The Comeback I Prayed For
Hi friends,
It's been a while.
The last time I was here was about two months ago. I remember saying I'd be sharing regular updates, especially about my Python journey. Well... life had other plans.
A lot has changed since then.
The biggest update is that I landed a new role.
This was something I quietly hoped and prayed for during my postpartum journey. My goal was to return to work before my daughter turned one, and I'm so grateful to say that I did.
What's even more special is how it happened.
The opportunity came through a LinkedIn connection. I treated it just like every other opportunity. I prepared, gave it my best, and after the interviews, I honestly wasn't sure anything would come of it.
Then, months later, I got a callback.
One interview led to another, and here I am.
I've now been in the role for almost two months, and it's been an incredible experience.
It's also been one of the biggest adjustments I've ever had to make.
Balancing a full-time job while raising a baby isn't easy. I used to hear working moms talk about how exhausting it could be, and now I truly understand.
Some days are long.
Some days are messy.
But they're also incredibly rewarding.
I'm learning what works for me. Sometimes that means putting work aside for a little while to spend time with my daughter. Other times it means unwinding by watching football or cooking something I genuinely enjoy. Those little moments help me reset and show up again the next day.
For now, my biggest focus is settling into my new role and successfully completing my probation.
Once I'm a little more settled, I'd love to pick up my Python journey again. I still want to dive deeper into AI, learn how to use it more effectively as a tool, and maybe even earn a certification along the way.
Those goals haven't disappeared.
They're simply waiting their turn.
One thing I've reflected on a lot recently is something someone once told me.
A few months after I had my daughter, someone suggested that I should spend the next couple of years at home and not worry about work. They meant well, but deep down, I already knew what I wanted.
I wanted to work.
I wanted to continue building my career while raising my daughter.
I believed that if I waited for life to become less busy, I might be waiting forever.
Motherhood doesn't pause life.
It simply teaches you how to grow within it.
Looking back now, I'm grateful I trusted my instincts.
Returning to work hasn't taken anything away from my daughter. If anything, it's made me more intentional with the time we spend together. Every moment feels more meaningful because I know how precious it is.
It's not always easy, but it is possible.
And that's something I'm learning every single day.
Before I go...
There's one more thing I want to say.
This comeback wasn't mine alone.
I'm incredibly grateful for the people God has placed around me.
One person I'd like to mention by name is my friend, Rudy.
Meeting Rudy has been a turning point for me. What's funny is that she's not even in tech. She's a psychologist.
But somehow, her confidence, positivity, and the energy she brings into every conversation have rubbed off on me.
She has helped me become more confident, more open, and more comfortable speaking my mind. Sometimes we don't realize how much the people around us shape us until we stop and reflect.
So thank you, Rudy.
I'm truly grateful for your friendship.
And then there's my husband.
Where do I even begin?
He's been there long before this new job.
From our days in Nigeria, through school, my service year, every role I had back home, and now this new chapter abroad, he's been my biggest supporter.
He's proofread my applications, checked my emails, helped me prepare for interviews, listened to my ideas, encouraged me when I doubted myself, and celebrated every win with me.
Like every couple, we've had our own challenges.
But one thing I appreciate about us is that we've always found our way through them together.
Thank you for always believing in me, even on the days I struggled to believe in myself.
And finally, to everyone who has supported me over the past year, whether you sent an encouraging message, prayed for me, shared an opportunity, or simply cheered me on from afar...
Thank you.
I see your kindness.
I appreciate your support.
And I don't take any of it for granted.
Going forward, I may not post as often as I'd like. Once or twice a month feels more realistic for now, and I'd rather share meaningful updates than disappear completely.
If you'd ever like to connect, collaborate, or simply say hello, feel free to reach out through the contact page on my blog or send me an email. I'd genuinely love to hear from you.
Thank you for being here and for following this journey with me.
I'll see you in the next post.
