Back to Learning, This Time Intentionally
Hi friends,
How are you all doing? It’s a brand new week, and it feels refreshing. Happy new week.
It’s also spring! The flowers are blooming, the weather is sunny and cool at the same time, and everything just smells amazing. There’s something about this season that makes me feel hopeful and optimistic.
But that’s not the focus of this post.
This week, I’ve decided to learn something new.
Not that I don’t learn every day. Most of the time, it happens subconsciously. But this time, I want to be intentional about it. I want to pick up something new that I haven’t explored deeply in a while.
I’ve decided to learn Python.
The last stack I really focused on was TypeScript. I’ve used it a lot on the front end and built quite a number of things with it. But there’s an area I haven’t fully explored yet, and that’s backend development and data management.
And in the world of AI, data is everything.
I want to understand how to manage and use data effectively, and Python feels like the right place to start. I also want to strengthen my knowledge of SQL, but for now, my main focus is Python.
I actually tried learning Python before, but at the time, it felt too simple compared to JavaScript, and I didn’t give it much attention. I was also very busy with work and didn’t have the time to apply it to real projects.
This time feels different.
I have a bit more flexibility, and I’m ready to approach it with a beginner’s mindset again. I’m going to use FreeCodeCamp’s structured Python lessons and follow them through to the end.
I’m giving myself three months.
My goal is to get comfortable enough to call myself a junior Python developer and hopefully have a project on GitHub to show for it. I’d love to come back here and share that progress with you.
Of course, this will all happen alongside taking care of my baby, which is now a big part of my everyday life.
So that’s the plan.
I’m hoping for a smooth and productive week. I’m open to good surprises, the kind that bring joy, but I’m hoping for no stressful ones.
Thank you for being here.
I’ll see you soon.
